December is Cake Decorating Month at Gourmandise! Join us for three days of sweet workshops, panel and demonstration led by some of Southern California's finest pastry chef. Jamaica Crist of Jamaica's Cake (featured on TLC's Utimate Cake-Off) will demonstrate how to make fondant from scratch, teach you how to cover a cake with fondant and show your budding inner cake decorator some great decorating tips with this versatile dough! This is a demo-style class. Each participant will be able to roll fondant, try their hand at coloring, shaping and creating shapes with it. This class will take place in Kitchen 2: Surfas Restaurant Supply 8777 Washington Blvd. Culver City, CA 90232 Jamaica Rose grew up in the small coastal town of Newport, Oregon. After many years in the kitchen, she found her true passion in desserts while attending college. She started working at the Sweet Life Patisserie in Eugene, Oregon and fell in love with the art of the wedding cake. She later met, and married, her husband James and moved to his home town of Los Angeles, California. After many years of working regular jobs, and not finding the right bakery for her, she realized it was time to open her own shop. Jamaica's Cakes was born in the spring of 2005, and Jamaica has never looked back since. |
